movement in the alpine landscape
Pedro Rodrigues
Pedro Rodrigues, the winner of the 2023 near. prize, has for several years been interested in the impact of human interventions on the alpine landscape and ecosystem. As the point of departure for his work, he takes the geological changes that are taking place in the mountains. Rodrigues examines the phenomena being brought on by climate change, such as rockslides, landslides, and melting and receding glaciers. In addition to bearing witness to these extreme climatic events that are becoming more and more common, he also looks at the measures that humans are putting in place in the landscape in order to predict, mitigate and hold back these threats.
His photographic, audiovisual and audio installations offer new interpretations of the landscape and testify to the tension, real or imagined, between humans and the environment in which they live. His work is being presented in the two exhibition spaces at Juraplatz and in the courtyard of the Farel House.
