The 22nd edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography looks at the notion of happiness and its growing importance in contemporary society. Whether measured by the index of Gross National Happiness or by the number of followers of a generation Y, happiness seems to have become something that can be controlled and quantified. The pursuit of happiness – an inalienable human right, according to the United States Declaration of Independence – has become a product marketed by countless self-help books and personal development workshops.
Whether what is sought is something real, imagined, or simply illusory, the images on display at this year’s festival testify to the quest for happiness and the construction of happiness, both individual and collective. As social animals, we find happiness in emotional bonds, groups and communities. What political or social system is most likely to bring happiness to its population? And at what cost could that system be made to prevail? Where is happiness to be found? In economic growth? On Mars? In the afterlife? Or in the end, will the ones who live happily ever after be not us, but our avatars?
L’intitulé de la 13e édition des Journées photographiques de Bienne évoque la communauté, l’individu et leur in- teraction. Il peut être entendu comme un groupe qui est à part ou comme un individu qui se met volontairement à l’écart (selon l’expression « faire bande à part »). Vers quels groupes sociaux, communautés ou actes collectifs se porte l’intérêt des photographes dans le contexte actuel, à l’ère de l’individualisme ? Les 26 photographes représentés à la 13e édition des Journées photographiques de Bienne comprennent le medium photographique comme une entité qui dialogue avec le monde extérieur. Ils interrogent autant les communautés qui luttent pour leur survie dans un monde globalisé que les liens qui nouent l’individu aux différents groupes auxquels il participe par volonté ou contre son gré. Les images qui en résultent donnent des informations certes partielles sur ces groupes mais en révélant quelques constantes ou variations. Alors que certains travaux prennent pour objet les rites qui s’opèrent au sein d’une communauté pour exprimer son identité, donc sa différence, d’autres se penchent sur les caractéristiques spécifiques de l’individu au sein d’un groupe, qu’il s’agisse de la physionomie, des codes vestimentaires, ou des schèmes comportementaux.
Constant floods of images, technology everywhere, the excesses of a globalized society, and photographic challenges: these are some of the themes that are addressed by the photographers in the twenty-first edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography, which is focused on the notion of the extreme.
The images presented bear witness to the instabilities of the Anthropocene that are affecting all life on Earth: it can be be difficult to look at them, but humour often acts as a counterbalance. An inquiry into immortality, and artificial intelligence with its armies of crowd workers, project visitors into the future, while an artistic use of archives presents a recreation of the past. Some photographers have created unique works by subjecting their cameras and images to irreversible procedures.
Through workshops and an exhibition, the Image+ project will explore new platforms in post-photography, from the page to the screen. An experimental new mobile workshop is offering a digital arts education programme. In cooperation with the SNSF Scientific Image Competition, the festival is welcoming a specific category of image producers: scientific researchers.
Our twenty-eight exhibitions, three-quarters of which are Swiss or world premieres, will unfurl in a walk through the town of Biel/Bienne. This year a different itinerary is being offered, with three new venues. Whether they are tools for knowledge or objects of entertainment, our society is now unthinkable without images. This is reflected in the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography, the rendezvous for emerging photography in Switzerland.
Through the theme of adaptation, a subject that is of particular contemporary relevance, the 19th Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography will reveal trends in emerging Swiss and international photography. In their explorations of the remarkable ability of living things to adapt, the invited photographers record how human beings, animals, and even the landscape are transforming themselves in reaction to new conditions. In the 21st century, the challenges are mainly created by humans themselves. Confronted with entirely new situations, individuals, whether in isolation or as members of a group, seek ways to adapt, or sometimes to resist it.
The Festival has selected works of photography which engage closely with issues that raise questions for the future of our contemporary societies: intensive resource development, neocolonialism, demographics, economic needs, recent political changes, religion, genetic modification, climate change, new technologies, as well as the uses of the medium of photography itself. The photographers have aimed at finding subjects that reflect a present that is very near to us, from one end of the planet to the other: from Japan to the US, from Ukraine to Lesotho, and in Switzerland too. The images offer a panorama of the practice of photography now: documentary photos, humanistic projects and conceptual ones; photographs with a scientific or classificatory aim; projects that incorporate archival images or images found on the internet; and installations that take possession of the exhibition space.
Comprising 22 exhibits, most of which will be receiving their Swiss premiere, even worldwide, the Festival is a unique opportunity for discoveries. On the walk from the museums to the old town of Biel/Bienne, there will be a surprising new venue, which will be visible this year only. With a rich programme of activities centred on dialogue about the images and meetings with the artists, the Festival is a three-week long celebration of photography. We invite you to come enjoy it! You will also be able bring a photograph home by becoming a collector of the “Editions of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography”.
Le non-lieu évoque une forme d’absence : l’absence de visibilité et de vitalité de lieux souvent associés à la modernité. S’opposant aux endroits investis par des habitants, d’où proviennent une identité et une communauté, ils ne retiennent que peu de traces de notre passage : nous les traversons, les consommons sans nous les approprier. Pour l’anthropologue Marc Augé, les non-lieux sont des espaces d’anonymat qui se constituent en lien à certaines fins (transport, transit, loisir, commerce) et interrogent le rapport que les individus entretiennent avec ces espaces.
Dans les expositions présentées aux 11e Journées photographiques de Bienne, la figure humaine se fait discrète. Edifices publics, banques, prisons, laboratoires, parcs d’attraction, plages aménagées, laboratoires, cabinets de psychiatres, hôtels ou déserts deviennent ainsi les motifs d’images photographiques qui soulèvent la question de l’ancrage de l’individu dans la collectivité tout en explorant visuellement des structures architecturales et leur intervention sur le lieu.

Implantées à Bienne depuis douze ans, les Journées photographiques se sont profilées comme le seul festival suisse de photographie annuel qui propose une thématique. Une thématique en lien avec l’actualité de la photographie contemporaine et qui caractérise plus spécifiquement la photographie suisse. Cette année, plus que d’un thème, il s’agit d’un genre photographique, celui de la mise en scène. Ce genre qui existe depuis les débuts de la photographie, comme le retrace Fritz Franz Vogel dans son texte, s’est renouvelé à chaque époque. Aujourd’hui, à l’ère du numérique et de Photoshop, le rapport de la photographie à la réalité est plus que jamais mis en cause, bien que les artistes invités cette année préfèrent pour la plupart avoir recours à l’arrangement de la scène avant la prise de vue. Levant ainsi le voile sur la vérité de la représentation et son aspect construit, ils créent des images au caractère narratif, théâtral ou artificiel. Par leur travail, ils réagissent également aux millions d’images disponibles et consommables immédiatement sur le web, en pratiquant une photographie personnelle et créatif, qui ralentit le rythme de création et de consommation de l’image, sans dénoncer pour autant, mais valorisant le travail de l’artiste et l’image qui en résulte.
Nous avons aussi à coeur d’exporter cette plateforme pour la photographie suisse, afin de faire connaître la haute qualité de la création suisse et d’ouvrir une fenêtre sur ce qui se fait ailleurs. C’est ainsi que nous avons cette année – après Berlin, Uri, Maputo, Johannesburg et Lodz – un échange d’exposition avec la Biennale dell’Immagine de Chiasso.

The 18th Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography explores the theme of hybridization in contemporary photography. As a highly adaptable medium that records reality but also employs digital technology, photography lends itself to cross-breeding, making it an ideal instrument for expressing the challenges of a globalized world.
The works of the photographers brought together this year show the collision of heterogeneous elements and the mingling of cultures. They testify to the fragmentation of the individual, but also to an economy of collaboration. The moving image as well reveals the contradictions of reality, enters into a dialogue with literature, and interacts with the viewer.
Carlos Spottorno’s series “China Western” is emblematic of an intermingled world in which different cultures, societies and religions exist side by side in everyday life. The images show the situation in Xinjiang, the westernmost province of China, which is rich in oil and gas and borders on eight other countries. The native Uighurs, who are Muslims of Turkic origin, are demanding independence. A striking syncretism can be seen in the video “Religious Aerobics” by Bouillon Group: the exercise routine that is carried out is based on the ritual gestures of the Muslim, Christian and Jewish religions. “Büropflanze” by Saskia Groneberg reveals another unexpected encounter: the encounter with nature at the office, where employees leave the task of humanizing a depersonalized work world to their desk plants. The unemployed people in “Kamagasaki” by Eduardo Cebollero are likewise out of step with their environment. The series shows an employment office and its surroundings in the Japanese city of Kamagasaki, public spaces populated only by unemployed lingerers. To pass the time while they wait, or simply because of lack of money, they radically transform these spaces by using them for their private activities. By contrast, in the images of “Silent Outlooks” by Gregory Collavini, different human activities are separated from each other by noise reduction walls, which create a landscape that is totally controlled. Yet in Natan Dvir’s “Coming Soon,” it is difficult to determine where the life of the city begins and where the representations of advertising end: the careful composition of the images subtly reveals instead how the one intrudes on the other.
In his series “Moi avec des filles,” Romain Mader continues his pursuit of girls, this time at the Geneva Motor Show. His selfies, taken in the style of holiday photos, are meant to serve as proof of relationships that are more than just ephemeral, but he seems more like an intruder imposing himself in the shot. The virtual world is unsurpassed when it comes to how the individual gets fitted into a format; to remedy this situation, the “YOUNIC – FaceBOOK” project by Eva-Maria Raabindividualizes the standard profile image that Facebook assigns when no picture has been uploaded. 100 Facebook users were invited to send their profile pictures to participate in this hybridization of the official symbol. With “In the Woods,” Camille Scherrer invites visitors to an interactive experience in which they become an integral part of a graphical virtual universe of plants and animals. Collective creation is the very subject of the work of the trio JocJonJosch. Their video “Beast Mutation” lets us see the physical incarnation of the process of participatory reflection: a hybrid creature made up of individuals joined in an unstable equilibrium. It is perhaps because he wanted to be many people at once that the subject of “Dear Clark,” lived a life made up of false identities. Sara-Lena Maierhofer uses photographs and other documents in her attempt to reconstruct his multiple lives; each new piece of information gets added to the rest, yet gaps remain. Identity is also the subject of investigation in the series “Eukalyptus & Vegas” by Michal Florence Schorro & Prune Simon-Vermot. The two photographers start from their personal experiences to trace an immaterial landscape in which identity and culture intermingle.
The subject of “Offscreen” by Gabriela Löffel is real, but it seems more like fiction. This video installation tells the story of a voyage by a Western tourist seeking intense experiences in war zones of Iran and Afghanistan. The voiceover and the scenes filmed on a sound stage reinforce the sense of a gap between reality and its depiction. The video “34°8’8.59″N | 118°20’48.61″O” by Swann Thommen takes us on an exploration from above (with the help of Google Earth) of a real location that represents a fictional scene: the set of Steven Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds” at Universal film studios. The video “Grosse kleine Welt” by Marie José Burki turns its gaze on the city of Biel/Bienne to create a portrait of the writer Robert Walser. Contemporary images of the city are accompanied by texts of Walser read in a voiceover, joining the past and the present, the large and the small, the close and the far.
The series “Vertigo” by Fabian Unternährer works in an associative manner. In the images from various locations, the unusual is hidden in the heart of the banal. They tell different stories depending on how they are exhibited and on the viewer’s personal reading. The diptychs that make up the video “Doppelt und dreifach umrundet” by Livia di Giovanna also work by association. The three-dimensional structures of industrial installations are filmed at a low angle and laid flat in the composite images, producing new geometrical shapes.
Stephen Gill conducts experiments: in “Talking to Ants,” he puts objects inside his camera to play with effects of scale. Whereas Stephen Gill makes his intervention before taking the photo, Oscar Muñoz intervenes afterwards: in “Cíclope,” he plunged images into moving water, causing them to disappear from the paper, but to persist materially in liquid form.
For its 25th edition, the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography examines restoration and the process of recovery by way of the image. In an era of accelerating social change and of a polarization of society, photography is often used as a filter for protecting oneself from experiencing a reality that can sometimes be intolerable, hostile or even destructive. But the photographic image can also be a means of reconstruction and recovery after personal upheavals or shared disasters. Can images be the beginning of a process of healing?
Mental recovery, construction of identity, historical reconstruction: the artists and projects presented in this year’s edition explore the practice of the image as a tool for restoring a relationship between the individual and the world that has been damaged and sometimes even broken. This year’s exhibition itinerary presents an examination of the weight of a cultural heritage. Some works aspire to restore the feeling of belonging to a community (whether real or virtual), while others aim at rewriting a history.
This year, the festival also has the pleasure of welcoming the Bern artist Reto Camenisch for a new exhibition. The Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography is also launching a new website which will highlight the festival’s archives by giving them a new online visibility.
Pour son dixième anniversaire, les Journées photographiques de Bienne mettent l’humain au centre. Un humain dont l’identité, à l’ère de la recherche génétique et de la contrainte de l’efficacité, se retrouve de plus en plus morcelée. Les photographes invités explorent ainsi tant l’identité physique que psychique de personnes au parcours singulier, à moins qu’ils ne retournent leur objectif sur eux-mêmes pour nous parler de leur propre identité. Certains s’intéressent aussi à l’un ou l’autre détail du corps, symptômatique. La vie collective n’est pas non plus oubliée à travers des reportages sur la vie en société, qu’il s’agisse de la famille ou de l’école.
En septembre, 57 photographes prennent leurs quartiers à Bienne, dans 13 lieux, dont un en plein air, de la gare à la vieille ville en passant par les musées.
The works that have been brought together under the theme of “see and be seen” explore photography’s ambivalent dialogue with the voyeuristic and exhibitionist gaze. This has been all the more pronounced since the advent of the internet as a public space, along with online social networks and images taken and sent by mobile phone, as well as new surveillance technologies. Today, thanks to mobile phones, anyone can be the witness to a scene and send it to the media; everyone is also under constant observation by omnipresent surveillance cameras. Whether as tools for democracy and security, or as instruments that can easily lead to dangerous excesses, recent technologies can satisfy the human need to see what is forbidden, but can also facilitate various forms of self-exploitation. This is echoed in the reappropriation of these inventions in contemporary photography, which is scrutinizing these new developments while incorporating their aesthetic possibilities.
Le titre du festival, «De la vie à la mort – de la mort à la vie» embrasse un large spectre de thèmes, auxquels la photographie de reportage se consacre. In an era where the world of screens coexists with the world of bodies, where individuals make their way through a universe of representations, artificial intelligence and increasingly automated surroundings, the 26th edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography offers a reflection on how our present society is embodied. When we have robots able to make decisions and autonomous cars that drive themselves, when people can create alter egos to live out experiences by proxy within a metaverse, the line between digital and real-life identities is becoming blurred. Now constantly networked, humans are incessantly confronted with their own image. They are observed, controlled, measured and often confined or forced into exile.

This year we are offering a new programme of performances, talks and workshops, as well as tours for both professionals and amateur lovers of photography, for future visitors and for “flooders.”
To mark its 20th anniversary, the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography will reveal how the contemporary image (re)constructs reality. Under the title “Permis de construire” this year’s festival will address themes such as the construction of identity, historical reconstruction, and artificiality. Particular attention will be paid to current creative processes, from the direct recording of reality to 3D, as well as various kinds of photographic montage.
2005 est consacrée au thème de la mobilité. Pour mettre le visiteur en mouvement, des projets en extérieur agrémentent son parcours, notamment une promenade visuelle. La collaboration biennoise se poursuit, à la fois par « Das Gesicht bewahren – «Conservez ce visage !» un projet historique sur les anciens ateliers ou magasins actuels de photographie, ainsi que par la rebaptisation de la ruelle des Photographes. Les partenariats extérieurs ne sont pas en reste, en Suisse et à l’étranger : les Journées photographiques 2005 font une halte sous une forme réduite en 2006 la Haus für Kunst Uri à Altdorf, au Festival Photofesta de Maputo (Mozambique), et en 2007, à Johannesburg (Afrique du Sud) au Photo Market Workshop.
Whether it is political, economic, environmental, or individual, instability reigns in our globalized world. Changes are now arising that will affect economic and social models that are increasingly inadequate. These changes are having an impact not only on the people who set them off and then must live with them or confront them, but also on the context in which we live, and by extension on the images that we produce.

Identity crises, political instabilities, ecological transitions, economic restructurings – the photographers and projects exhibited in the 24th edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography create spaces to reflect about the implications of the ruptures that preoccupy our societies today. At a time when our political systems are in crisis, debates about coexistence are rising, protests are ringing out across the globe and when social networks provoke a sense of community as well as physical isolation, the festival offers a face-to-face encounter with contemporary images. This year’s edition aims to question our collective unconscious, and perhaps, in a climate of breakdown, find a collective awareness. Because at last, is it not from the cracks and gaps that the decisive moment emerges?
Our itinerary through the city of Biel/Bienne features more than 20 exhibitions at various venues. Building on new collaborations, the festival launches two special projects to be discovered as part of the exhibition program: the Enquête photographique Jura bernois and the Taurus Prize for Visual Arts. Moreover, the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography will be enlivened by meetings, performances, radio programmes and workshops.
The fifteenth edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography offers new reflections on the nature of time in contemporary photography. As time does its work, it creates the photographic image. Indeed the role of time is decisive in allgenres of photography, from fashioning the latent image, to its analog or digital “revelation”, to viewing the final result. Yet time has a disconcerting and paradoxical nature, for in photography, in theory, nothing should move or be fluid. Thus, unsurprisingly, time has become the subject of a number of exhibitions in recent years, including Breathless! Photography and Time in London in 1999 and in 2010 Entretiempos at PHotoEspaña and the Darmstädter Tage der Fotografie in Germany under the title “Jetzt – die erzählte Zeit”. In an age when the qualities of mobility, immediacy and simultaneity have come to define a significant portion of our lifestyles, photography is no longer necessarily bound to the here and now. Photographic works, often hybrid in form, are creating new possibilities and lexicons in order to constitute authentic expressions of contemporaneousness.

Les Journées photographiques de Bienne s’intéressent cette année à des travaux photographiques qui se distancient du flux d’images qui nous entourent. Ainsi une partie des photographes retenus exposeront leur regard aiguisé et original sur des sujets-types de la photographie; la façon nouvelle dont ils les traitent nous prouve qu’un sujet n’est jamais épuisé par la photographie. Le 11 septembre est ainsi abordé en lui tournant le dos, des portraits d’enfants prennent le contre-pied des clichés. D’autres s’intéressent à des thématiques particulièrement actuelles mais de manière singulière, comme la militarisation de la société, le besoin croissant en énergie ou la conservation de notre patrimoine.
La mode est caractérisée par le changement et influence bien plus que notre simple manière de nous vêtir. Elle a partie prenante avec l’illusion et le glamour, elle contribue à notre bien-être et est l’expression d’une culture et d’un style de vie ; l’apparence est un miroir de nos décisions personnelles. Pour lancer quelques pistes de réflexion sur le sujet, les Journées photographiques de Bienne se proposent de montrer des travaux de Ruth Erdt, Isabelle Steiner et Patrick Pfeiffer, ainsi qu’une exposition réalisée par deux classes secondaires de Bienne et enfin un dispositif d’écoute qui permettra à chacun de se forger sa propre image mentale de la mode.
En outre, une performance de Christa de Carouge a eu lieu le jour du vernissage.
Ekaterina Sevrouk was born in 1975 in Moscow (RU). She studied German philology and art history in Moscow. Since 2015 she lives and studies in Berlin, as well as works as an independent photographer in Berlin and Austria. In 2017, she was nominated by Leica Oskar Bernack Award and exhibited her work at the Salzburg Museum.
Oliver Lang (1966, Luzern) studierte Fotografie an der Hochschule der Künste in Zürich (1992–1997). Er arbeitet als unabhängiger Fotograf in Lenzburg (AG) für Zeitschriften und im Bereich der Werbung und Architektur. Seine persönlichen Arbeiten wurden in der Schweiz, in New York, Moskau und Tokio ausgestellt. Er ist Gewinner des Michel Jordi Preises 1996, des eidgenössischen Wettbewerbs für Design, Swissdesign, 2004, und wurde mit einem sechsmonatigen Atelieraufenthalt in New York ausgezeichnet.
Daniel Hofer (1982, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. He studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund and was an intern with portrait photographer Martin Schoeller in New York. His long term documentary projects connect social, political and economic issues. His work is shown in book format or exhibitions and published in international magazines and newspapers.
Ulrike Schmitz (1975, Deutschland) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Sie hat ihr Fotografiestudium 2012 an der Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin abgeschlossen. 2015 wurde sie vom Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne, für reGeneration3 ausgewählt. Ihre Arbeiten wurden mehrfach in Europa, den USA sowie in Australien ausgestellt.

Gabriela Löffel (1972, Oberburg, CH) vit et travaille entre Genève et Berne. Diplômée de l’Ecole supérieure des beaux-arts de Genève en 2005, elle pratique essentiellement l’art vidéo. Elle a exposé au Swiss Art Awards 2014 et a eu plusieurs expositions institutionnelles en Suisse en 2013 (Yverdon, Berne, Genève).

(1986 Tehran, Iran) Mohammadreza Mirzaei is a Philadelphia based photographer currently attending University of Pennsylvania for his MFA in Fine Arts. His photos have been featured in multiple solo and group exhibitions at Dubai’s The Empty Quarter Gallery, London’s Mall Galleries and Silk Road Gallery in Tehran, among other galleries. Mirzaei has been active as critic and translator of photographic texts for Iranian media and he was also founder and editor of Dide Magazine, an online magazine dedicated to contemporary Iranian photography. He was also one of the jurors at the International Photobook Award 2011.
Claire Beckett (USA) was born in 1978 in the United States. She lives and works in Boston. Recent projects look at the tension of Islam in post 9/11 America. Her photographs have been shown in solo exhibitions at the Wadsworth Atheneum, Carroll and Sons Art Gallery, and the University of Rhode Island, and in group shows at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Portrait Gallery, the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Aperture Foundation, and FOTODOK. She has been awarded an Artadia Award, a Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant, and was an artist-in-residence at Light Work.
Martin Kollar (1971, Zilina, Slovaquie) est diplômé de l’Académie des Arts vivants (Academy of Performing Arts) et de l’Institut cinématographique de Bratislava. Stöh Grünig est né à Berne (Suisse) en 1958. Après avoir suivi les cours du Gymnase de commerce de Bienne, il effectue un apprentissage de photographe à Thun, puis travaille comme assistant chez Peter Foster, Zurich et chez Charly Kost, Bâle. Depuis 1980, il gère son propre studio de photographie publicitaire, tout en étant enseignant et membre de diverses commissions photographiques et jurys.
Oscar Muñoz (1951, Popayán, CO) est un artiste pluridisciplinaire, diplômé de l’Ecole des Beaux-arts de Cali en 1971, qui vit et travaille dans cette même ville. En 2014, une exposition rétrospective itinérante, appelée « Protographies », lui est consacrée au Jeu de Paume à Paris jusqu’au 21 septembre.
Karla Hiraldo Voleau (FR/DO), born in 1992, lives and works between Lausanne and Paris. She graduated with a photography MA from the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) in 2018, with her project Hola Mi Amol. She was selected as a Foam Talent 2020, as a laureate for the Olympus Recommended Fellowship 2020, or as a finalist in Art Basel 2022 for the Swiss Design Award. She premiered her first solo show Another Love Story at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris in 2022, and later at the Photoforum Pasquart of Biel/Bienne in 2023.

Miguel Ángel Tornero (1978, Spain) lives and works in Madrid. He studied Fine Arts in Granada and Milan and has completed residencies in places such as the Spanish Academy in Rome or Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. He has been awarded major prizes of photography (Purificación Garcia, ABC…) and the Best Art Book published in Spain in 2014.
Robert Huber (1975, Zürich) hat die Ecole supérieure d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV) besucht und 1995 sein Diplom in Fotografie erhalten. In seinen Reportagen hat er Themen bearbeitet wie ein Festival für christlichen Rock, eine Bombenfabrik, den Wiederaufbau von Kurdistan. Seine farbigen Gesellschafts-Dokumentationen drehen sich um die Gesellschaft von heute und die Religionen. 1998 ist Robert Huber nach New York gezogen und hat während sechs Jahren rund um die unterschiedlichsten Themen in den USA gearbeitet. Zusammen mit dem belgischen Fotografen Stephan Vanfleteren hat er 2001 das Werk Elvis & Presley herausgegeben. Verkleidet als Elvis Presley sind die beiden Fotografen durch die USA gezogen und haben sich gegenseitig fotografiert. Die Serie hat den World Press Award erhalten und wurde in ganz Europa ausgestellt. 2004 zog Huber von New York nach Istanbul und hat auch da verschiedene Facetten dieser Metropole fotografisch untersucht. Zur Zeit lebt er mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Töchtern in Zürich.

Elisa Larvego (1984, Genf) lebt und arbeitet in Genf. Sheida Soleimani (Iran/United States) lives and works in Providence (Rhode Island). She is an Iranian-American artist. The daughter of political refugees, she inserts her own critical perspectives on socio-political occurrences in Iran. Her works meld sculpture, collage, and photography to create collisions in reference to Iranian politics throughout the past century.
Lauren Huret (1984, France) vit et travaille à Genève. Elle a étudié à l’école de Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux et à la HEAD à Genève. Adam Broomberg (1970, Johannesburg, Süd Afrika) and Oliver Chanarin (1971, London, England) live and work in London. Born in 1998, Axelle Bruniau (FR), is a photographer and a videographer from Dunkerque, in the north of France. Her educational path and search for spaces to fulfil herself led her to Lille and then to Paris where she began her photography studies. She finished her education with a Bachelor in Photography from ECAL and graduated with honors. Her work is essentially made up of fictional works, which allow her to put into images experiences that she has lived or observed. In addition to her photographic work, Bruniau also pursues an artistic practice combining sculpture and sewing.

Claudia Schildknecht (1990, Switzerland) started her way with art and design through the Preliminary Course of Art in Saint Galle. After traveling she returns to education at the Lucerne School of Art & Design and finished her degree in summer 2016. She’s now working as a free-lance photographer mostly based in journalism.
Mary Maggic (US), born in 1991 in Los Angeles, lives and works in Vienna. They is a non-binary artist working within the fuzzy intersections of transfeminist hacking, body/gender politics and eco-alienations. They have participated in several international venues including Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Transmediale, Berlin), Never Apart (Sight+Sound Festival, Montreal), Haus der elektronischen Kunst (Basel), Jeu de Paume (Paris), Institute of Contemporary Arts (Post-Cyberfeminist International, London), Spring Workshop (Hong Kong) and CKSTER Gender Hacking Festival (Bern). He received his MFA from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore (2009) and BA in Fine Art from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin (2004). Most recently his work, exhibited internationally, explores the possibilities of using video game environments as platforms for art production.
Roc Herms (ES) discovers photography as a tool for learning 28 years after Gary Thurek and his assistant Carl Gartley send the first SPAM. Combining it with his interest in the Internet, video games and parallel realities, Herms proves his passion for technology and his need to take a step further in the photographic practice. “Postcards From Home” and “” are two long term projects that explore the lives we live inside the computer. “Hacer Pantallazo” is an intimate diary made with screenshots, a capture process Herms ends up understanding as the ultimate step in the digitalisation of photography.
Simone Niquille (CH) is a designer and researcher who investigates the representation of identity and the digitisation of biomass in the networked space of appearance. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design and an MA in Visual Strategies from the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam. She currently teaches Design Research at ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem. She is a 2016 Fellow of Het Nieuwe Instituut Rotterdam, recipient of the talent development grant by The Creative Industries NL 2016/2017 and contributor to the Dutch Pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018.
Nikita Teryoshin wurde 1986 in Leningrad (RU) geboren. Er studierte Fotografie an der FH Dortmund und lebt in Berlin. Er nahm an internationalen Gruppenausstellungen in Deutschland, Grossbritanien und Singapur teil. Seine erste Einzelausstellung fand 2017 in La Chambre, Strassbourg, statt. Simone Haug (1981, Suisse) vit et travaille à Bienne. Au profit d’un master en fine art de la Hochschule für bildende Künste de Hambourg, elle travaille actuellement comme photographe indépendante. Lana Mesić (HR), born in 1987 in Croatia, lives and works in Rotterdam. She holds a BA and MA of photography from the AKV in Breda. Her work has been exhibited in Het Nutshuis in The Hague, at Sao Paulo Photography Biennale, or Dong Gang Photography Festival in South Korea, to name but a few. In 2016, she has been nominated for the Unseen Grolsch Residency in London.
Bertrand Cavalier (FR), born in 1989 in France, lives and works in Brussels. His practice revolves around the notion of space and operates from purely physical and perceptual matters. He published Concrete Doesn’t Burn with Fw:Books. In 2019, he participated to Plat(t)form at the Winterthur Photography Museum in addition to exhibitions at the FOMU Antwerp, FRAC Orléans, BredaPhoto and BIP Liège. In 2021, he started collaborating with the contemporary art gallery tegenboschvanvreden, based in Amsterdam. He is currently artist in residence at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Fabian Biasio (1975, Zürich) lebt und arbeitet als freischaffender Fotograf in Luzern, wo er vor zehn Jahren an der Schweizer Journalistenschule MAZ die Ausbildung zum Pressefotografen absolvierte. Nebst Auftragsarbeiten für Publikationen im In- und Ausland («Tages Anzeiger», «Das Magazin», «Beobachter», «Spiegel», «Die Zeit» u.a.), hat Biasio zahlreiche eigene Fotoprojekte in der Schweiz, im Irak, im Kosovo, in Indien und in den USA realisiert. Biasios Fotografien wurden mehrfach ausgezeichnet; letztes Jahr erhielt er den EWZ Preis der Sonntagszeitung in der Kategorie Redaktionelle Fotografie. Kurt Tong (1977, Hong Kong, Chine) vit et travaille en Grande-Bretagne. En 2006, il a obtenu un Master en journalisme photographique au London College of Communication. Il jouit d’une réputation internationale et ses travaux ont obtenu de nombreux prix, dont le Jerwood Photography Award en 2008.

Ruth Erdt, née en 1965, a suivi une formation de graphiste à la Schule für Gestaltung de Zurich entre 1983 et 1987, avant d’étudier la photographie à la Schule für Gestaltung und Kunst (HGKZ) de 1996 à 2000. Elle a entre autres déjà exposé ses travaux au Fotomuseum de Winterthur (1999, Young) et au Migros Museum (2001, M-Familiy). Elle obtient deux années consécutives (1999 et 2000) un prix de l’Office fédéral de la culture.

Guadalupe Ruiz (CH), born in 1978 in Bogotá, lives and works in Biel/Bienne. She studied at ECAL, Lausanne, HGKZ, Zurich and obtained a Master in Fine Arts at the FHNW, Basel in 2019. She has had solo exhibitions at Photoforum Pasquart and Lokal-int, Biel/Bienne, Centre de la Photographie, Geneva, Grand Palais, Bern, as well as international exhibitions. In 2015 she printed and self-published the acclaimed artist’s book Kleine Fotoenzyklopädie.
Matt Kay (1985, South Africa) lives and works in Durban. He completed the Advanced Programme in Photography 2012 at the Market Photo Workshop. Kay is currently completing his Masters at Wits University. He was the recipient of the Tierney Fellowship 2014, mentored by David Goldblatt, leading to his solo exhibition The Front at The Photo Workshop Gallery and later at the KZNSA, Durban.

Lucas Dubuis (CH), born in 1979 in Saint-Imier, is a self-taught photographer living in Biel/Bienne. He studied sociology and journalism and works as communication specialist. His humanistic approach takes place in the field of documentary and social photography. He regularly collaborates with representatives of the independent cultural scene in Biel/Bienne and documents social movements. Working on mandates and personal projects, his images regularly appear in the media and in various publications.

Beat Schweizer (CH), born in 1982, lives and works in Bern. After an apprenticeship in Bern, he started working as a freelance photographer. His photographic work focuses on people and their environments, showing the poetry of everyday life. The work of Marion Tampon-Lajarriette (FR), born in 1982, has been exhibited at Palais de Tokyo, Mamco, Swiss Institute (New York City), FMAC (Geneva), NMNM (Monaco), MEP (Paris) and François Pinault Foundation, between others. Jon Naiman (1965, USA) lives in Biel/Bienne. He earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and received various grants including two MacDowell Colony Fellowships and a photography prize from the Kanton Bern. He has shown his work in numerous exhibitions. In 2012, his book, Familiar Territory, was published by Edition Patrick Frey/Zurich and in 2015, in collaboration with Piet and Wim Eckert of e2a architects, Silent Form, was published by Park Books.
Lisette Appeldorn (NL), born in 1988 in Leeuwarden, lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated at the Utrecht School of Arts (HKU). Her work has been on the cover of the NEW Gup Dutch Photography Talent 2019 and has been selected as a new young talent at the Haute Photographie fair in Rotterdam 2019. Exploring human shapes and creating different masks, Appeldorn’s portraits keep on growing into an army of different characters.
Seba Kurtis(1974, Buenos Aires, Argentina) lives and works in Great Britain. In 2009 his work was exhibited at the NoorderlichtPhotofestival in Groningen, the New York Photo Festival, the Host Gallery of London and the Kiosk Gallery in Manchester.
Patrick Pfeiffer est né en 1969 à Constance, où il vit et travaille actuellement. Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil (1968, Neuilly-sur-Seine) vit et travaille à Paris. Farhad Rahman (1986, Bangladesh) lives and works in Dhaka. As a Bangladeshi after finishing his 3 years professional course in photography from Pathshala, South Asian Media Institute he started to work as a freelance documentary photographer and Lecturer at Pathshala. Particularly his photographs project the relation between life and space as it is in home and abroad: a positive portrait of rural to urban life, space and the nature within his reach.

Calypso Mahieu (FR), born in Paris in 1993, is a photographer and video artist based in Lausanne. She studied at ECAL and holds a degree in Visual Communication specialized in photography. Her work essentially deals with the relationship between the body, social networks, the mystical and the post-human, which she stages most often with derision in an aesthetic borrowed from surrealism, while cultivating an attraction to contemporary and new technologies. Her work has been exhibited in numerous Swiss photography events, such as Alt.+1000, Weltformat, the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography and the Swiss Design Awards.

Daan Paans (1985, The Netherlands) lives and works in Utrecht. In his photographic projects Daan Paans investigates the concept of time. Alexander Odermatt, geboren in Stans (Nidwalden), lebt in Zürich. 1993 besuchte er die Escuela de artes applicade in Grenade, Spanien, von 1997 bis 2003 die Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Luzern. Cyril Porchet (1984, Lausanne) lebt und arbeitet in Lausanne. Er schloss 2009 den Bachelor und 2011 den Master an der Haute école d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) ab. Diverse Ausstellungen in der Schweiz und in Europa. 2010 und 2012 war er Empfänger des Swiss Federal Award.
Meinrad Schade (1968, Kreuzlingen) hat eine Ausbildung als Biologe gemacht, wurde dann Mitglied der Gruppe der autodidaktischen Fotografen (GAF) in Zürich und hat anschliessend am Medienausbildungszentrum (MAZ) in Luzern studiert. Seit 2002 ist er selbständiger Fotograf und publiziert seine Fotografien in verschiedenen Zeitschriften in der Schweiz und Europa. Des weiteren gehen mehrere Bildbände auf sein Konto. Er hat zwei Stipendien erhalten und stellt regelmässig in der Schweiz aus.

Jeanne Chevalier (1944, Suisse) vit entre Bienne et Almería, en Espagne. Après un apprentissage de photographe, elle complète sa formation par de nombreux voyages. Photographe indépendante, elle travaille principalement pour la presse et documente de multiples projets culturels. Auteure d’une dizaine de livres dont plusieurs ont été récompensés, elle participe à de nombreuses expositions. Elle est également lauréate de plusieurs prix, dont notamment le Prix culturel de la ville de Bienne.
Né en 1966 à Lausanne, Daniel Stucki vit à Sion. Il réalise autant des mandats de studio pour des entreprises et des agences publicitaires, que des commandes de portraits et reportages pour la presse nationale.

Matthias Gabi (CH), born 1981 in Bern, lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. Stefanie Becker (1973, Münster, Allemagne) vit et travaille à Hambourg. Diplômée de la HAW de Hambourg (Université des Sciences Appliquées), elle y étudie auprès de Hans Hansen et de Ute Mahler. Anna Katharina Scheidegger (1976, Schweiz) lebt und arbeitet in Paris. She is known for her complex and meticulously constructed portraiture, which are influenced by her creativity and her background in fine art. En 2013, elle a exposé en Suisse, Belgique, Hollande, Serbie et Corée du Sud.

Giorgia Piffaretti (CH), born in Mendrisio in 1989, is a visual artist currently based in Amsterdam, where she graduated with a Master in Film in the programme “Artistic Research in and through Cinema” in 2019. Her work is inspired by archival practices and starts from the observation of everyday life. From a singular object, a picture, a drawing or a moving image, she creates multiple narratives and perspectives that integrate these individual elements into a collective story. Working between fine arts and film, she has participated in several international exhibitions and film festivals.
Sophie Wright (UK), born in 1989 in London, is a filmmaker and writer based in Amsterdam. She graduated from the Netherlands Filmacademie in 2020, where she obtained a diploma in artistic research in and through Cinema. She is currently participating in the ISSP Masterclass 2019/2020 with Jason Fulford. Her work grows out of a murky crevice that exists somewhere between photography and film, experimenting with tactile publications, sensory films, collaborative installations and performances.
Enrique Muñoz Garcia(1969, Chile) lebt zurzeit in Biel und widmet sich einerseits der Kunstfotografie und andererseits der Reportage. 2004fand die erste Ausstellung («Marokko») in der Galerie Leica in Nidau statt. 2006 stellte er anlässlich der Bieler Fototageseine Serie «Claude» aus. Goran Potkonjac, né en 1968 en Croatie, a étudié la géologie. Il s’intéresse très tôt à la photographie en commençant par faire le portrait de ses camarades. Depuis 1989, il a choisi de faire de la photographie son métier et s’installe dès 1991 en Europe de l’ouest. Il vit en Suisse depuis 1996.
Thibault Brunet (FR) was born in 1982. His work plays with photography’s coded genres and questions the relationship with virtuality in a society where the world is on its way to being fully digitalised. Since he graduated of the ENSBA Nîmes, he has exhibited at reGeneration2 (2011), Mois de la photo in Paris, Berlin and Vienna (2012), at Talents Foam (2013), to name but a few.
Roger Frei (1971, Zürich) lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Nach dem Architekturstudium an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) Zürich und Mitarbeit in verschiedenen Architekturbüros arbeitet er seit 2006 als selbstständiger Architekturfotograf und ist seit 2008 Dozent für Architekturfotografie an der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW) Muttenz. Sebastian Schmieg (1983, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. His practice encompasses different media like websites, videos and books. He graduated from the University of the Arts Berlin in 2013.
F&D Cartier (CH), born in 1952 and 1950, live and work in Biel/Bienne. They were both educated in the arts and started exhibiting their work as the F&D duo in the late 1990s. This marked the beginning of their collaborative venture, characterized by experimental research. Their joint work has led to numerous national and international exhibitions and has been the subject of many publications over the last two decades. Recent exhibitions of their work include the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, or the Kunsthaus Wien.
Arno Hassler (1954, Donat) lebt und arbeitet in Crémines und Zürich. Seit seiner Ausbildung zum Lehramt für bildende Kunst in Basel, arbeitet er als Fotograf und als Drucker für Lithografie und Tiefdruck im Atelier de Gravure in Moutier. Er nahm unter anderem an der Ausstellung Weltbilder 3 im Helmhaus in Zürich teil.

Simon Rimaz (1987, Suisse) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Diplômé de la formation supérieure de l’Ecole de photographie de Vevey en 2013. Il poursuit un travail personnel multi-média. Utilisant peu l’appareil photographique, il privilégie la collection et la manipulation d’images d’archive ou d’objets. Avec le regard d’un anatomiste, il tente de cerner la mécanique et les limites de l’image.
Katrin Streicher (1980, Germany) studied Visual Anthropology in Manchester and Photography in Munich and at the Ostkreuz School for Photography in Berlin. Her work has been exhibited internationally and she is a member of the aff Galerie. Her social-documentary photography reveals the beauty of the ordinary and considers the impact of cultural and social contexts on the human condition.
Anthony Ayodele Obayomi (NG), born in 1994, lives and works in Lagos. He holds a BA in Creative Arts from the University of Lagos and explores storytelling techniques that combine art and technology in immersive installations and through experimental media. In 2017, he was awarded the LagosPhoto National Geographic Portfolio Review Prize and was selected for the Electric South New Dimensions Labin 2018, before winning the Taurus Prize for Visual Arts in 2019.

Seine Werke präsentiert er im In – und Ausland, zuletzt an der Documenta 14 in Athen und im Bündner Kunstmuseum in Chur. Weiter wurde er 2017 mit dem Swiss Photo Award für seine Arbeit Amicezia ausgezeichnet.
Sabrina Gruhne (1984, Allemagne) vit et travaille à Berne. Après avoir assisté divers photographes zurichois, elle devient titulaire, en 2014, d’un Bachelor en Communication visuelle de l’Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). Son travail porte sur l’architecture et l’altération du paysage par l’homme.
Mikail Koçak (BE), born in 1989 in Belgium, lives and works in Liège. He studied graphic design at the Beaux-arts de Liège. He has gradually developed an artistic practice (photography, video, sculpture, installations, etc.) in which he combines installations with graphic work. His work is regularly exhibited in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France. He is preparing a solo show for September 2022 in Liège, at the contemporary art centre Les Brasseurs.

Olivier Suter (CH), born in Bern in 1959, lives in the region of Fribourg. He pursues a polymorphous artistic work which – using various means of expression: objects, installations, books, performances, photography – regularly oscillates between societal issues and humor. In addition to his creative activity, Olivier Suter has been director of the contemporary arts festivals Belluard Bollwerk in Fribourg and La Bâtie in Geneva. He has also taught visual arts and art history.
Depuis 1998, Adam Ames (1969, New York) et Andrew Bordwin (1964, Framingham) forment le collectif Type A. Basés à New York, ils s’intéressent aussi bien à la photographie qu’à la vidéo, la performance ou encore la sculpture. Florian Zellweger (1982) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Il obtient en 2006 le diplôme de photographe à l’Ecole d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV). Il a participé à plusieurs expositions collectives et notamment en 2007 à l’exposition “C.O.R.P.S. “, Espace quai 1, à Vevey. Carlos Spottorno (1971, Budapest, HU), artiste espagnol diplômé de l’Academia di Belle Arti di Roma en peinture et gravure, a glissé vers la photographie et la vidéo documentaire en 2001. Andres Wanner (1969, Schweiz) lebt und arbeitet in Basel und Luzern. Er macht Maschinenkunst und Interaction Design. Melanie Cassidy (Canada) lives and works in Canada. She is a sculptor, filmmaker, and art director in Vancouver’s film industry. She has exhibited her sculptural works internationally, and designed custom fabrications for feature films and television series.
Michael Filimowicz (1971, Canada) lives and works in Coquitlam. He is a new media artist working in the areas of sound, experimental video, creative writing, net art, public art and digital photography. As a writer he has published poetry, fiction and philosophy, and as a sound designer he has mixed soundtracks for film and television. He is on the faculty in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.
Dom Smaz(1983, Lausanne) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Il étudie la photographie à l’Ecole de photographie de Vevey (CEPV) où il obtiendrason diplôme en 2012. Fabian Hugo (former Unternährer) (CH), born in 1981 in Switzerland, lives and works in Bern. He holds a BA in Photography from the ZHDK in Zürich and a MA in Art Education from the HKB in Bern. His work has been exhibited in the Louvre at Paris photo, at Unseen in Amsterdam or at Voies off in Arles, to name a few. In 2016 he won the Cultural Award of the City of Langenthal.

She has shown work internationally at events and venues including the World Economic Forum, Poland Mediations Bienniale, Norway Article Bienniale, Ars Electronica, Transmediale and PS1 MOMA.
Catherine Leutenegger (CH), born in 1983, is a visual artist, photographer and teacher based in Switzerland. She obtained a Master in Photography from ECAL, Lausanne and has received several awards: the Prix Photographie Vaud 2018, the Manor Cultural Prize and two Swiss Design Awards. Her work has been exhibited and published around the world and is held in several collections, including the MAST Foundation, the Musée Niépce, the BCV Collection and the Musée de l’Elysée.

Emma Bertuchoz (CH), born in 1998, is a multimedia and performance artist living between Saignelégier and Zürich. After high school in La Chaux-de-Fonds, she was an auditor in a product design class at the school of art in Kassel. It was in Bienne, in the propaedeutic class, that her interest in plastic art and performance became clearer. The following year, in 2019, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in art & mediation at the University of Art & Design in Lucerne. There she met Yadin Bernauer, Giuliana Gjorgjevski and Margot Vieli with whom she formed the collective 123. They collaborated during the three years of bachelor and continue to work together even today. During these studies, Emma Bertuchoz researches on the theme of striptease and on the theme of de-skilling, which she deepens in Embracet, a performance for which she receives the Förderpreis Design & Kunst / Alumni Hochschule Luzern in 2022.

He takes a banal, ironic approach to the medium and his artistic work involves appropriation, manipulation and intervention. Since 2008 he has worked as a photography teacher in Latvia and the Czech Republic.

François Schaer (1967, Genève) vit et travaille à Genève. Après avoir suivi en Suisse entre 1988 et 1990 les cours de l’ Ecole de photographie de Vevey (CEPV), il entame son parcours de photographe. En 1995 il obtient une Bourse du Fonds de décoration et d’art visuel (Genève). Son œuvre se développe autour de trois axes : portraits, paysages et chroniques. Dimitris Michalakis (1977, Elefsina, Grèce) vit et travaille à Athènes. Il étudie à la Focus School of Photography d’Athènes. Cedric Bregnard (CH), graduated from l’École de photographie de Vevey (CEPV) in 1998. His work has been exhibited in Japan, Mexico, Switzerland and France.
His work reflects his contemplation of the encounter between different sacred trees on earth and questions our relationship with our environment and the living world. After a retrospective at Wacoal Art Center in Tokyo in 2010, artist residencies in Japan and in Switzerland, Bregnard conceived the projet Racines du Ciel ⵣ. Since 2017, he has created more than 30 participatory performances around this singular artistic project at museums, art galleries, festivals and theatres, including Garaman Hall in Ginoza (Japan) and the Grand Palais during Paris Photo.
Andri Pol (1961, Bern) absolvierte nach der Matura eine Ausbildung zum Zeichnungslehrer an der Schule für bildende Kunst in Luzern. Danach studierte er Fotografie am Londoner Royal College of Art. Zurzeit arbeitet er als freischaffender Fotograf für Magazine wie Geo, Stern, Neon, Zeit Magazin, Das Magazin oder National Geographic. Seit 2001 ist Andri Pol Fotograf und Bildredaktor von Geo Schweiz. 2006 erschien das Buch Grüezi – Seltsames aus dem Heidiland, welches ein exotisches Bild der Schweiz zeichnete. 2008 illustrierte er das Werk SCIENCEsuisse der wissenschaftlichen Welt unseres Landes. Das Erscheinen seines neusten Buches Where is Japan im Steidl Verlag ist Zeugnis seines diesjährigen Schaffens.
Nina Berman (1960, New York, Etats-Unis) vit et travaille à New York. Elle est depuis 1987 photographe documentaire. Ses travaux ont été publiés à différentes reprises, exposés et primés – elle a reçu deux fois le World Press Photo Award. Ses photos ont été publiées dans National Geographic, Geo, TIME et Newsweek. “Homeland” a fait l’objet d’un livre (Trolley, 2008).

Natan Dvir (1972, Nahariya, IL), actuellement basé à New York, est un photographe israélien diplômé de l’Université de Tel Aviv et de l’Ecole d’arts visuels de New York. Il a déjà exposé en Europe, en Amérique du Sud, en Israël et aux États-Unis, notamment au Museum of Fine Arts de Houston en 2011.
Marion Nitsch est née en 1967 à Mannheim, en Allemagne. Après un apprentissage hôtelier, elle entreprend des études d’économie, puis se tourne vers la photographie de presse. Elle vit et travaille actuellement en tant que photographe indépendante à Zurich, collaborant régulièrement à la NZZ am Sonntag, Beobachter,ainsi qu’à la télévision. Constant Dullaart was born in 1979 in the Netherlands. He currently lives between Berlin and Amsterdam. He works primarily with the Internet as an alternative space of presentation and (mis)representation. Dullaart’s practice, often political, includes net performances, digital prints or YouTube videos. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues, such as, MassMOCA or the Stedelijk Museum.
Dominique Wyss, was born in 1989 in Solothurn (CH). She studied Visual Communication at the HKB in Bern and at the artEZ in the Netherlands. She is currently working as a graphic designer at Studio Marie Lusa in Zurich.

Le collectif est l’auteur, en 2012, d’une superproduction nollywoodienne,”Hunting Diamond Jo”. Ce long métrage écrit, réalisé et monté à Lagos, Nigeria, deuxième capitale mondiale du cinéma, raconte la folle aventure d’un vol de diamants à Lagos et a été réalisé en une quinzaine de jours dans les conditions de tournage de Nollywood.
Lucas Olivet (1985, Genève) vit et travaille à Genève. Autodidacte, son œuvre figure dans plusieurs collections privées. Il collabore actuellement avec la vidéaste polonaise Maya Kosa-Wegrzyn pour Kopiec project. En 2014 sortira une micro-édition sur sa série Calippo.
Stefania Malorgio, née en 1982, vit et travaille à Lausanne. En 2004 elle obtient un CFC de photographe à l’Ecole d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV). En 2007, elle expose ses travaux personnels à l’espace Standard-Deluxe et accomplit une formation de designer (HES) en communication visuelle, avec spécialisation photographie, à l’Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). Stephen Gill (1971, Bristol, UK), photographe expérimental, vit et travaille à Londres. Il a déjà exposé dans de nombreux musées, dont le Foam Photography Museum d’Amsterdam en 2013. Grâce à sa propre maison d’édition, « Nobody », il réalise des publications, étape finale de ses séries photographiques.

Cassandra Klos was born in 1991(USA). She is a Boston-based artist. She earned her BFA in 2014 from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Her projects focus on science fiction and questioning the validity of a photograph. Her photojournalism reporting has been published in TIME Magazine.

Jules Spinatsch(1964, Davos) lebt und arbeitet in Zürich und Wien. 1993 brach er sein Soziologiestudium ab und absolvierte stattdessen eine Ausbildung am International Center of Photography in New York. Dreimal ausgezeichnet mit dem Preis des Kantons Zürich, Swiss Art Award und BMW-Preis – Paris Photo 2004. Seine Werke befinden u.a. in den Sammlungen von MoMA New York, San Francsico MoMA, Collection National des Arts Plastiques CNAP Paris, Fotomuseum und Fotostiftung Winterthur, Kunsthaus Zurich, Kunstmuseum Graubünden, Kunstmuseum Grenchen. Bis heute sind 6 Monografien erschienen, “Temporary Discomfort” wurde mit mehreren Buchpreisen ausgezeichnet und ist in Martin Parr’s Sammlung der 30 wichtigtsten Fotografie Bücher der letzten 10 Jahre vertreten ist. In Venedig ist zur Zeit ist neue Arbeit «Exit Strategies» zu sehen.
Lisa Roehrich(1981, Genève) vit et travaille à Vevey. Elle est titulaire d’un CFC de photographe de l’Ecole de photographie de Vevey(CEPV) et d’un Bachelor of Arts en communication visuelle, département de photographie, de la Haute école d’art etde design de Lausanne (ECAL). Elle est membre du collectif BU (Bastards Union) et travaille pour l’agence Rezo. Sa sériede vidéos « Limbo » a été exposée en 2010 au Photoforum PasquArt, Bienne, dans le cadre de SELECTION | AUSWAHL 10.
Dana Popa (1977, Roumanie) vit et travaille au Royaume-Uni. Elle achève son Master en photographie documentaire et photojournalisme au London College of Communication. En 2007 elle a obtenu deux prix, le Jerwood Photography Award et le Prix du jury des Days Japan International Photojournalism Awards. En 2010 lui est attribuée la première place au Center Project Competition (Santa Fe). Ses photographies ont été exposées en Europe, en Amérique et au Japon. Son projet “Not Natasha” a été publié sous forme de livre (Autograph, ABP, London, 2009).
Camille Aleña (CH) born in Fribourg, lives and works in London. She creates new links between art, music and the history of forms and media. She develops her work through diverse strategies and approaches such as documentary, narrative, performance, and objects making. After studying at ECAL and the University of Art and Design in Basel, she graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in London. She has won a Swiss Art Award. In the past few years, she has had exhibitions in France, Italy and Switzerland.
Christian Tagliavini, d’origine italienne, est né en Suisse en 1971. Il partage sa formation et son travail entre la Suisse et l’Italie. Vanja Bucan (SI) was born in Slovenia in 1973. She is living and working in Berlin, Germany. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague, The Netherlands. Her work has been exhibited throughout ex -Yugoslavia and internationally. She is the recipient of Lens Culture Exposure award 2015, Renaissance Photography Prize 2016, and she was a finalist for Leica Oscar Barnack Award 2018.

Silvia Rosi (IT), born in 1992 in Italy, lives and works in London and Modena. She graduated in 2016 from London College of Communication with a BA in Photography. The artist explores the idea of identity and the importance of how we define ourselves as individuals in the context of our personal histories – especially in a context of migration. She is the recipient of the Jerwood/Photo works Awards and Portrait of Britain (2020). Her work has been shown in exhibitions including the Taylor Wessing National Portrait Prize and Autograph ABP (2021).

Born in 1980, Katherine Longly (BE) graduated in photography, communications and anthropology. She develops her projects as a means to meet up with different social realities and their protagonists, in order to understand their own logic. Her work has received recognition with various prizes, publications and exhibitions in Belgium and abroad. She has taken part in artist residencies (China, France, Japan). She has published two books To Tell My Real Intentions, I want to eat only haze like a hermit (self-published artist book) and Hernie & Plume (The Eriskay Connection), which was selected for the Dummy Book Award in Arles in 2021.
David Gagnebin-de Bons (CH) is born in 1979. He graduated from the Applied Art School in Vevey in 2003. He uses photography as a tool to open new spaces of imagination for the viewer through an ongoing process of telling personal stories. He has been invited to the curated international portfolio viewing Plat(t)form in Winterthur in 2019.

Rebekka Friedli (CH), born in 1989, lives and works in Zurich and Bern. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Film (Hochschule der Künste, Zurich) and a MA of Fine Art in Public Spheres (Design&Kunst, Luzern), she developed her own personal practice focusing on videos and video installations. Her artistic work suggests a translation of metaphorical concepts into audiovisual experiences to reveal perceptions and evaluations hidden in everyday language. She’s co-founder of Kollektiv Beton. Rebekka Friedli exhibits her work between Switzerland and Europe.
Aurore Valade (FR), born in 1981, lives and works in Arles and Madrid. She is a graduate of the Bordeaux Ecole des Beaux-arts and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, and has been a fellow at the Casa de Velázquez, Académie de France in Madrid. She won the HSBC Foundation Photography Prize in 2008 and the Rencontres d’Arles Photo Folio Review Award in 2017. Her work has been exhibited at Les Rencontres d’Arles Festival, Mucem Museum in Marseille, Hong Kong Photo Festival, to name but a few.
Reto Camenisch (CH), born in 1958 in Thun. He started out as a magazine and advertising photographer, then as a freelance portrait and reportage photographer for national and international print media. Since 2001, he concentrated on his artistic practice. His work is part of the collections of the Musée de l’Elysée, the Guggenheim (NYC), the Kunstmuseum Thun, the Fotomuseum Winterthur and the New Zealand Centre for Photography (Wellington). He published several books including Bürgerbilder (1997), Zeit (2006), Berge.Pilger.Orte (2009) and Reto Camenisch-Porträts (2012). Since 2011, he is the director of studies for “Editorial Photography” at the Swiss journalism school MAZ in Lucerne.
John Divola(1949, Los Angeles) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He studied art at California State University and at the Universityof California, where he is currently teaching. His work has been exhibited throughout the world and he has severalpublications to his name.

Marc Renaud (CH), born in 1969, trained as a photographer and went on to study documentary photography at the international Center of Photography in New York. Sabina Bösch (CH), born in 1990, lives and works in Zurich. She holds a BA in Trends & Identity from the Zurich University of the Arts and obtained her MA in 2016 from ECAL. Fascinated by the human body and experimentations with colors, Sabina Bösch’s work focused on portraits, still life and fashion. For her personal artistic work, she works on long-term documentary projects with women related topics. Winner of the Swiss Design Award in 2021 with her Hoselupf project, she has been exhibited her photographic work worldwide since 2017.
Olivier Culmann (1970, Paris, France) vit et travaille à Paris et en Inde. Photographe depuis 1992, il travaille principalement pour la presse et fait partie du collectif Tendance Floue. Il expose régulièrement en France et à l’étranger. Auteur entre autres de Les mondes de l’école (collaboration avec le photographe Mat Jacob), il a reçu de nombreuses bourses et distinctions, notamment un World Press pour sa série “Télé-Spectateurs” en 2008.
Clément Lambelet (CH), born in 1991, explores societal issues related to humans and technology. His work includes photographic, video, websites and sound forms, displayed as installations. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 2016 at the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL), where he currently works as a lecturer. His projects have been exhibited internationally in institutions such as Foam Museum, C/O Berlin, HeK Basel, Frankfurter Kunstverein, Centre de la Photographie in Geneva and Photo Elysée. He has published two monographs with RVB Books, Paris.
Valentin Woeffray (CH), born in Montreux in 1992 is a visual artist living and working between Paris and Lausanne. He studied photography at the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) from which he graduated in 2020. He was a finalist in the Swiss Culture Awards (2021) and exhibited his work in Lausanne, Basel, Paris, Seoul, and Tokyo.

Pascal Greco (CH), born in 1978, lives and works in Geneva. He is a self-taught filmmaker and photographer. His photographic work mainly focused in architecture and its place in the landscape. He also produced several documentary, exeperimental and fiction films. Pascal Greco exhibited his artistic work in numerous collectives and personals exhibitions in Switzerland. His photographic work has been the subject of several publications including in The Guardian, Vice, Libération or Numéro.
Après des études de photographie à la Hochschule der Künste de Zurich (ZHdK, 1991-1994), Roland Iselin (1958, Kreuzlingen/TG) étudie à la School of Visual Arts de New York (Master of Fine Arts, 1999-2001). Depuis longtemps, il s’intéresse à la tension entre la mise en scène dans la photographie documentaire et les traces du documentaire dans la photographie mise en scène.
La dynastie Reinhard regroupe trois générations de photographes de Suisse centrale, du grand-père au petit-fils. Joseph (1901-1975) commence comme coiffeur tout en se formant à la photographie en autodidacte. Il ouvrira son magasin en 1932, exerçant jusqu’à sa mort avec son fils Josef (1932- ), documentariste et photoreporter qui travaillera pour des journaux de la région. Actuellement, Daniel, le petit-fils (1960 – ), photographe indépendant, est l’un des photographes de Formule 1 les plus connus au monde.
Markus Bühler est né en 1969. Après une école de commerce et une année d’université aux Etats-Unis, il effectue un apprentissage de photographe à Zurich, puis un stage à l’agence Lookat, dont il est membre depuis 1994. Depuis 1989, il expose régulièrement en Suisse et à l’étranger. Il mène des projets de long terme en rapport avec les personnes de petite taille (depuis 1994) et les Inuits (depuis 1997). Ses images sont publiées par de nombreux journaux et magazines suisses et européens.
Marc Latzel, né en 1966, a commencé par une formation musicale au conservatoire et à l’école de jazz de Berne. Il s’oriente ensuite vers la photographie en suivant les cours de l’Ecole supérieure de photographie de Vevey. Dès cette époque, il expose en Suisse et mène des projets à l’étranger. Depuis 2002, il est membre de l’agence photographique Lookat basée à Zurich et travaille pour le compte de plusieurs magazines européens et américains.
Artiste pluridisciplinaire, Marie José Burki (1961, Bienne) vit à Bruxelles et Paris. Diplômée simultanément de la Haute Ecole d’art et de design et de l’Université de Genève en 1988, elle a à son actif nombre d’expositions personnelles et collectives dont la dernière au Théâtre de Liège ce printemps 2014.
Loan Nguyen, née en 1977, étudie la photographie à l’Ecole d’arts appliqués de Vevey ( CEPV, 1997–2000). Dès 1998, elle participe à de nombreuses expositions collectives et personnelles, ainsi qu’à plusieurs foires internationales. Elle est également membre de Piece Of Cake, collectif européen pour l’image contemporaine. Elle est représentée par la Galerie Esther Woerdehoff à Paris.
Aykan Safoğlu (DE) received his MFA in Photography from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, NY. Safoğlu was an artist-in-residence at institutions such as Akademie Schloss Solitude, Ashkal Alwan, and Rijkakademie van beeldende kunsten between 2014-2018. Recipient of the Grand Prize of the City of Oberhausen at the 59th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (2013), and Birgit Jürgenssen Prize (2021); Safoğlu is currently a PhD-Candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Morgane Denzler (FR), born in 1986 in France, lives and works in Bruxelles and in Paris. She gradu-ated in 2011 from the Ecole nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Her work has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, at the Grand Palais in Paris, at MACVAL in Vitry-sur-seine, at the National Theatre of Riga and also at the Artissima in Turin.
Ingrid Wildi (1963, Santiago du Chili) émigre en Suisse à l’âge de 18 ans. Elle suit le cours préparatoire de la Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst à Zurich (aujourd’hui ZHdK) de 1985 à 1987 où elle étudie également (1994–1997) et obtient un postgrade en “mixed media” à l’Ecole supérieure d’art visuel de Genève (aujourd’hui HEAD) en 2000. Elle vit et travaille à Genève et à Bienne et expose régulièrement en Suisse et à l’étranger. En 2009, elle représente le Chili à la Biennale de Mercosur / Porto Alegre, au Brésil.
Constanza Piaggio (AR), born in 1982, is an Argentinian-French artist who lives and works in Paris. She studied photography and cinema in Argentina (EFC, SICA). Her work has been shown in exhibitions around the world and is held in several private and public collections. She has been a recipient of the Artes Visuales Fundación OSDE Prize, the Rojas/UBA and Fundación Telefónica Argentina grants, and residencies at Appelboom, France and Gyeonggi Creation Center, South Korea.
Emma Bedos (FR), born in 1991 in New Caledonia, lives and works in Paris. She graduated from ECAL in Lausanne with a MA in photography and holds a MA in graphic art and digital design from ESAG Penninghen – Paris. Most of her work deals with new technologies and social issues. Her work Between Chair And Keyboard has been presented in different countries, including Paris, Seoul and Tokyo.
Heini Stucki (1949, Bern) lebt und arbeitet in Biel. Er tritt wegen unterschiedlicher fotografischer Auffassungen 1972 vorzeitig aus der Fotoklasse Vevey aus und publiziert 1973 seine erste Serie im “du”. Arbeit als freier Fotograf und Fotokursleiter, aber auch Waldhilfsarbeiter, Naturkundelehrer und als archäologischer Feldbegeher. Er erhält unter anderem den Kulturpreis der Stadt Biel, das eidgenössische Stipendium für angewandte Kunst und den Fotopreis des Kantons Bern. Beat Borter porträtiert Heini Stucki 2006 im Film “Die Kunst der exakten Phantasie”.
Born to Iranian parents, Laurence Rasti (CH) grew up in Switzerland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in photography from ECAL and a master’s degree in visual arts from HEAD. In 2017, she published There Are No Homosexuals in Iran (Édition Patrick Frey) which was named one of the 10 best photography books in 2017 by The New York Times. Her work has been shown in several group exhibitions as well as solo shows around the world. In 2019, she was selected for the Enquête photographique genevoise. Since 2020, she has been teaching at EDHEA – École de design et haute école d’art du Valais.

Aline d’Auria (CH), born in 1982 in Switzerland, lives and works in Chiasso. She studied photography at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and holds a degree as designer in Visual Communication with specialisation in video from the HEAD – Geneva. Her work has been exhibited in numerous Swiss venues, such as the Biennale dell’Immagine in Chiasso and the Mudac in Lausanne. She is the recipient of several awards from film festivals.

Marwan Bassiouni (CH) is a Swiss-Egyptian-American artist born in 1985 in Switzerland. He lives and works in The Hague. He holds a Swiss Photography CFC, as well as a BA in Photography from The Royal Academy of Art (KABK). In 2019, he had his first solo exhibition at the Hague Museum of Photography and published his first book, New Dutch Views. Marwan’s work has been shown at Unseen Photofair (NL), Athens Photo Festival (GR), The Humanity House (NL), Le Prix Bayeux Calvados (FR), Cultuurhuis De Warande (BE), Paris Photo (FR) and Aperture (USA). Laurence Bonvin (1967, Suisse) vit et travaille entre Berlin et la Suisse. Elle a étudié la photographie à l’École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles et est professeur de photographie à l’École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) depuis 2002. Nombreuses expositions en Suisse et internationalement, entre autres : Xenopolis, DB Kunsthalle, Berlin (2015) ; Passing, Mamco, Genève et Concrete, Fotomuseum Winterthur (2013).
Levon Biss (1975, United Kingdom) lives and works in London. During his career Levon has received numerous awards and in 2016 he was presented with a Fellowship to the Royal Photographic Society. Levon’s work has been published in TIME magazine, GEO, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated and many other respected international titles.
Nicolas Savary (1971, Fribourg) a étudié les arts visuels à l’ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) jusqu’en 1998, pour ensuite enseigner au département d’architecture de l’EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) jusqu’en 2008. Il est aujourd’hui responsable du Département de Formation Supérieure de l’Ecole de photographie de Vevey. Savary vit et travaille à Lausanne en tant que photographe et plasticien. Ses travaux photographiques abordent souvent le rapport entre l’homme et l’architecture ; il travaille de préférence sur des projets interdisciplinaires et dans le cadre de projets liés à la recherche universitaire. Son travail a été récompensé à plusieurs reprises, il a notamment gagné le prix fédéral de design et le prix culturel Manor. Les oeuvres de Savary ont été exposées, entre autres, au Musée de l’Elysée à Lausanne et au PhotoforumPasquArt.

Sébastien Cuvelier (BE), born in 1975 in Belgium, lives and works in Luxembourg. He explores the notion of man-made utopias, where humans build and live their dreams, fantasies or hopes in search of an ideal. He has published three books (Gypsy Queens, Instant Star, Eunma Town) and exhibited in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Poland. His work has been published in M Le Monde and Slate, among others. An earlier version of his work for the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography won four awards at Les Boutographies in Montpellier, in 2019.
Michel Le Belhomme (1973, France) lives and works in Rennes. He studied at Rennes Art School under Tom Drahos (1999). He then went on to study at the University Rennes 2 earning a Diploma supérior of Arts Education. As received awards from Arles, Lacritique /Voies off prize in 2010 and Voies Off prize in 2015, Dublin with the Solas Photography Prize in 2015.
Thomas Kuijpers (NL), born in 1985, grew up in Aarle-Rixtel (NL) and lives now in Ghent. He studied photography at AKV St.Joost in Breda, where he graduated from MFA in 2011. In 2018 he received the second prize at the Somfy Photography Award, and was the winner of the Unseen Grolsch Residency.
Igor Tereshkov (RU), born in 1989 in Energodar, Ukraine, is a Moscow based visual artist. He studied documentary photography and photojournalism at the Docdocdoc School of Modern Photography in Saint Petersburg. He works in mixed media including documentary photography, altered process and lens-based mediums, and researches themes of the environment and the Anthropocene. Tereshkov has been a winner and finalist of various international competitions and festivals such as The CENTER Awards (USA, 2019), Backlight (Finland, 2020), Noorderlicht (Netherlands, 2019), Prix HSBC pour la Photographie (France, 2020) FOAM Talent (Netherlands, 2021).
Pixy Liao (CN), born in 1979 in Shanghai, China, lives and works in New York. She holds a MFA in photography from University of Memphis. Her work has been exhibited in Asia Society (Houston), Museum of Sex (NY), Leo Xu Projects (China), Flower Gallery (NY), to name but a few. She is also a recipient of NYFA Fellowship in photography and of Santo Foundation Individual Artist Awards.
La photographe suisse Corinne L. Rusch (née en 1973) vit et travaille à Vienne. Ma première vidéo fut une performance; un hamster dévorait ses petits, j’apprenais à dix ans que l’on naît dans le sang. Ensuite, j’ai écrit. Des poèmes et des essais, des scénarios et des billets doux, surtout. À cinq ans, je voulais devenir paléontologue ou président, et finalement, me voilà réalisatrice au foyer, écrivain du voyage, chanteuse du dimanche matin. Au-delà de l’oesophage, je suis un regard qui se construit.

Charles Fréger (1975) est diplômé de l’Ecole des Beaux Arts de Rouen. Il se consacre depuis 1999 à la réalisation de portraits en uniforme, portant ainsi sa réflexion sur la société et les individualités qui la composent. Il est le fondateur du réseau « Piece of Cake » (collectif européen de photographes). Photographe de séries, il expose ses travaux dans toute l’Europe ainsi qu’aux Etat-Unis, en Chine et au Japon. Ses séries sont regroupées dans près d’une douzaine d’ouvrages.
Yann Haeberlin (1982, Suisse) vit et travaille à Genève. Luzia Hürzeler (CH), born in 1976 in Switzerland, lives and works in Geneva. She graduated from HEAD Geneva and obtained a Master’s degree at the Slade School of Fine Art in London in 2004. She was a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome from 2007 to 2009. In 2017 she received her artistic PhD in Fine Art and Social Anthropology at the HKB and the University of Bern. Her artwork has been exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in galleries and museums in Switzerland and abroad and she received numerous awards.
Stephanie Schroeder was born in 1981 in Weimar (DE). She studied art history and art education at the University of Greifswald and photography at HGB Leipzig. She is co-founder of the independent cultural centre WBS70 in Greifswald and was a guest student at Villa Arson in Nice, among others.
Yoshinori Mizutani (1987, Japan) lives and works in Tokyo. Graduated from Nihon University College of Economics in 2010 and Tokyo College of Photography in 2012, Mizutani has won a number of prestigious awards including Japan Photo Award in 2013, Foam Talent Call and Lens Culture Emerging Talents Top 50 in 2014. Recent solo exhibitions in 2015: Yoshinori Mizutani, Graanmarkt 13, Antwerp; Colors/Tokyo Parrots, IMA Gallery, Tokyo.
Hazuki Natuno (1976, Kawagoe, Japan) lebt und arbeitet in Tokio, Japan. Schliesst 2006 die Hosei Universität in Tokio ab und graduiert 2013 am Nippon Photography Institute in Tokyo. Diverse Ausstellungen vor allem in Japan. Gewinnt 2010 die Auszeichnung des Canon New Cosmos of Photography.
Swann Thommen (1979, Saint-Imier, CH), artiste vidéo et photo, vit et travaille à Saint-Imier et Genève. Diplômé en 2004 de l’Ecole supérieure des beaux-arts de Genève, il a été membre du collectif_fact de 2002 à 2009. En 2013, il a participé à la Cantonale Berne Jura au Kunsthaus Langenthal et au CentrePasquArt à Bienne.

Augustin Rebetez (CH) (1986) is a Swiss artist based in Mervelier, in the countryside. He works in various media including painting, photography, video, sculpture, installation and theatre. His work is prolific, often collaborative and the result is quite epileptic. Since 2009, he has exhibited his work all over the world.
Sarah Carp (CH), born in 1981, graduated from l’Ecole de Photographie de Vevey in 2003. In 2022, she was nominated Swiss photographer of the Year 2021 and she received a grant for the Enquête Photographique Vaudoise (2021). Her work has been shown in various exhibitions and festivals. Sarah Carp’s work starts from a private and contemplative study of her immediate surroundings. She loves to tell stories and to offer spaces of freedom through her photography.
Giorgio von Arb est né à Zurich en 1952. Born in 1988, Stephen Dock (FR) has been working in the field of photography since 2008. For his work he traveled to Venezuela, Nepal, the West Bank, Syria, Iraq, Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, Mali, the Central African Republic, Lebanon, Eritrea, and Indian Kashmir. He was a member of the VU’ agency from 2012 to 2015. He was a finalist for the Leica Oskar Barnack Prize (2018), in for the Louis Roederer Discovery Prize (2020) and was a favourite of the Prix LE BAL Prize for young creation with the ADAGP (2021). His work has been exhibited at the Leica Gallery during Paris Photo 2018, at the Tbilisi Photo Festival as well as at Visa pour l’image, CNAP, MAP Toulouse and the Bayeux Festival. His photographs have been published in the French and international press.
Aline Zeltner (1980, Biel) lebt und arbeitet in Biel und Basel. Schloss 2009 den BA Arts Visuels in Lausanne und 2011 den Master of Fine Arts in Basel ab. 2009 gewann sie den ersten Preis des Flon-Events in Lausanne und wurde 2012 für den Startpointprize in Prag nominiert. Catherine Gfeller est née en 1966 à Neuchâtel, où elle obtient un diplôme universitaire es lettres (1986–1991). Suite à plusieurs voyages photographiques à travers l’Europe, l’Afrique, l’Asie et le continent américain, elle s’installe à New York (School of Visual Arts, 1995–1999), puis à Paris, où elle vit et travaille depuis 2000.

JocJonJosch est un collectif pluridisciplinaire fondé en 2008 par Joc Marchington (1976, Londres, UK), Jonathan Brantschen (1981, Fiesch, CH) et Joschi Herczeg (1975, Bâle, CH) et basé à Londres. Ils ont notamment exposé en 2013 au Musée d’art du Valais à Sion en gagnant le Prix Manor Sion 2013.

David Denil was born in Belgium and has an engineering background. His photographic interest began in 2014 after seeing Jacob Riis’ photojournalism project How the Other Half Lives. Through games of lights, shadows, striking compositions, David Denil uses the photographic medium to explore social injustice.
Annegien Van Doorn (1982, The Netherlands) lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated in Photography at the St. Joost Academy in Breda and followed the Master of Fine Art at the University of Barcelona. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at, among many other cities, in Amsterdam, Detroit, Madrid and Tokyo. Furthermore she participated in many international festivals.
Nicole Hametner (1981, Österreich/Schweiz) hat die Ecole de photographie de Vevey (CEPV) absolviert und lebt und arbeitet heute in Bern und Lausanne. Eva Maria Gisler (CH), born in 1983 in Switzerland, lives and works in Bern. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the HKB in Bern and an MA Fine Art from the Slade School of Art, London. Since 2010 her work has been exhibited in Kunsthaus Aarau, Kunstmuseum Thun, as well as several other institutions and project spaces. She has been awarded grants and residencies from the Canton of Aargau, as well as the Canton and City of Bern.
Werner Bischof (1916-1954) est un des grands noms de la photographie suisse. Il suit les cours de l’Ecole d’arts appliqués de Zurich et, jeune photographe, parcourt l’Europe dévastée par la guerre. Il travaille pour divers journaux en Angleterre et rejoint l’agence Magnum. Son reportage sur la famine en Inde le rendra célèbre. En 1952, il est correspondant de guerre en Indochine pour Paris Match. Il mourra d’un accident de voiture dans les Andes alors qu’il est en reportage en Amérique du Sud pour Magnum et Life.
Sergei Borissow, né en 1947, reçoit en cadeau à 12 ans son premier appareil de photographie. Il devient internationalement connu par son arrangement esthétique des paysages urbains, aussi bien en photographie qu’en vidéo.
Tanja Schmidlin est née à Bâle en 1976, où elle vit et travaille actuellement. Elle a suivi en 2001-2002 le cours préparatoire de l’Ecole d’art de Bâle et a enseigné l’art entre 2002 et 2004.

Florian Bach (CH), born in 1975 in Johannesburg, lives and works in Geneva and Berlin. His practice focuses on social violence. He decrypts situations or issues that have complex political repercussions. His work is dealing with paradoxal questions like, on one hand, political existence, militant implication, demission, rejection; on the other hand, forces driving to exile, uprooting, domination, loss and destruction. As a light designer Florian Bach collaborates and produces conceptual lights for performative and stage works. Light is for him a sculptural material. His work has been shown in Switzerland and abroad.
Pierre-Kastriot Jashari (CH), born in 1994, lives and works in Biel/Bienne. He holds a BA in photography from ECAL, Lausanne, and his work has been exhibited in different institutions, galleries and festivals including Art Bärtschi & Co in Geneva, Photoforum Pasquart in Biel/Bienne, and Dokufest in Kosovo. In 2018, he won the Human Rights Photography Prize given by Act On Your Future in Geneva. In 2019, he was the winner of the Enquête photographique Jura bernois 2019–2020.

They graduated respectively from the China Academy of Art and the Central University for Nationalities. Particularly interested in the question of space, through the delicate relationship between people and their environment, they had the opportunity to deepen their reflection during several residencies in Finland, Australia and Switzerland (SMArt residency programme). Ihre Raumporträts, die sie mit digitaler Bildersuche verfremdet, stellte sie unter anderem an der Jungkunst Winterthur 2014 und Plat(t)form Winterthur 2015 aus. Für ihre assoziative Traumdeutungsserie gewann sie den letztjährigen vfg-Nachwuchsförderpreis.
Manuel Bauer est né à Zurich en 1966.
Après un apprentissage de photographe publicitaire, il se tourne vers la photographie de reportage. Depuis 1990, il se consacre essentiellement à des projets à long terme. Manuel Bauer est connu pour ses travaux sur l’Inde, le Tibet et l’exil tibétain. Il enseigne le journalisme photo en Suisse et a remporté de nombreux prix internationaux de photographie.
Son recueil de photos sur le 14e dalaï-lama («Unterwegs für den Frieden») a été publié au printemps 2005 aux éditions DVA (Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt), Munich; La Martinière, Paris et Scalo, Zurich-Berlin-New York.

Cédric Widmer est né en 1971. Il vit et travaille à Lausanne. Il a suivi les cours de l’Ecole de photographie de Vevey entre 1991 et 1995. Depuis 1996, il est membre du collectif Strates photographies. Il a notamment exposé ses paysages urbains de Beyrouth (à Vevey, Zurich et Genève) et un travail sur la Cité Radieuse dans le cadre du festival off d’Arles.
Pierfrancesco Celada (IT), born in 1979, holds a PhD in Biomechanics. Celada is now focusing his work on a series of personal long-term photographic projects documenting life in modern cities.
He won several awards including the Photo Folio Review, Les Rencontres d’Arles (2021), the Guernsey Photography Festival International Competition (2020), PHmuseum Photography Grant (runner-up, 2020). His work has been published and exhibited internationally, including in Oslo, Hong Kong, Milan, Hamburg, Paris and at Les Rencontres d’Arles in 2022.

Romain Roucoules (FR) born in 1991, lives and works in Lausanne. Former student of Gobelins (Paris), he is currently studying at the ECAL. He is working on the naturalization of new technologies and how they challenge the way we conceive and perceive our environment. His work proposes to update issues related to the photographic medium by confronting them with contemporary means of image production.

Alexander Jaquemet (1978, Cerlier) vit et travaille à Erlach. Il étudie la photographie sous la direction de Guy Jost, entre 1999 et 2003. En 2002, deux expositions personnelles consacrent son travail : à la Galerie 25 à Siselen et à l’Aarbergerhus de Gléresse.
Romain Mader (1988, Aigle, CH) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Diplômé en photographie de l’Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne, il est finaliste du Prix HSBC pour la photographie 2014 et a exposé au Quai 1 de Vevey avec son exposition solo « Ekaterina».
Isabelle Steiner est née en 1976 à Abidjan en Côte d’Ivoire, avant de suivre une formation de maîtresse d’école primaire à Soleure. En 1999, elle entreprend de suivre des cours à la Schule für Gestaltung de Bâle (SfG), et poursuit dans cette voie entre 2000 et 2003 en suivant des cours à la Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst de Bâle (HGK).
Sandra Mehl (FR) habite à Montpellier. Les questions d’appartenance sociale et territoriale sont au cœur de son travail photographique.
Elle est lauréate de la Bourse du Talent 2016, du Prix du Festival MAP Toulouse 2016 et finaliste du prix Roger Pic de la Scam 2016. En parallèle de son activité de photographe, elle travaille aussi pour la presse française et étrangère.

Vanessa Gandar (FR), born in 1982, lives and works in France. She is a photographic artist, independent curator and director of the contemporary art gallery Octave Cowbell in Metz. She obtained in 2005 a Higher National Diploma of Plastic Studies in Art at ESAL in Metz. She has held numerous exhibitions, benefited from residencies in France and abroad, and obtained several research and creation grants. Olivia Abächerli (CH), born in 1992, lives and works in Bern and Affoltern im Emmental. Her practice is research-driven and combines or layers multiple media like drawing and animation, film and installation. She received a BA in Fine Arts at the University of the Arts in Bern and finished her studies in 2019 with an MA in Art Practice at the Dutch Art Institute. From 2019 to 2021, she was a fellow at the Sommerakademie Paul Klee. So far she has exhibited in project spaces or institutions in Athens, Helsinki , Orani or Freiburg im Breisgau and in various spaces in Switzerland, e.g. Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstmuseum Luzern, Ausstellungsraum Klingental (Basel) or Espace 3353 (Geneva).
Gao Shan (CN), born in 1988 in China, lives and works in Anyang, in China’s Henan province. His first photobook, The Eighth Day, received critical acclaim, winning the New Talent Award in 2016 (which champions young Chinese artists), and the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation award for “First Photobook” in 2019. Most of his work investigates questions of living and surviving.

Martin Klimas(1971, Singen, Deutschland) lebt und arbeitet in Düsseldorf. 1998 schliesst er seine Ausbildung in visueller Kommunikationund Fotografie an der Fachhochschule Düsseldorf ab. Born in 1983, Shannon Guerrico (AR/IE) is a visual artist who lives and works in Lausanne. She graduated in 2010 from the Advanced Photography Program at the École d’arts appliqués in Vevey (CEPV). In 2015, she was awarded the Leenaards cultural grant. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues in Switzerland and abroad and has been featured in several publications. Some of her pieces are part of private and public collections such as the FRAC Occitanie Montpellier and the FAV of the city of Yverdon-les-Bains.
David Magnusson (1983, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm. He studied at the Nordic School of Photography Biskops-Arnö and has received honors and awards from The Swedish Arts Committee, The Swedish Authors Fund, Picture of the Year International, Picture of the Year Sweden and World Press Photo Masterclass.
Daniel Schwartz (1955) a suivi les cours de la classe de photographie de l’Ecole d’arts appliqués de Zürich, qu’il a terminée en 1980. Après avoir obtenu son Master en Visual Education à Harvard, Susan Meiselas devient l’assistante de Frederick Wiseman pour son film «Basic Training». De 1972 à 1974, elle anime des ateliers pour des enseignants et des enfants dans le Bronx à New York. Boursière de la National Education Association (NEA) et des State Arts Commissions de Caroline du Sud et du Mississipi, elle met en place des programmes «film et photographie» dans des écoles rurales du Sud.
Consultante de Polaroid, elle développe par la suite des projets combinant l’enseignement des idées générales, de l’histoire orale et de la photographie, dans «Learning to See» (1975) et «A photographic Genealogy». Susan Meiselas est nominée de l’agence Magnum Photos en 1976, associée en 1977 et membre en 1980. Ses photographies ont été publiées dans Time, New York Times, Life, Paris Match, et elle a aussi co-réalisé deux films. «Carnival Strippers», son premier travail, a été présenté au Whitney Museum of American Art.

Claude Baechtold (1972, Lausanne) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Il a étudié à la Haute école d’art et de design à Lausanne (ECAL). Lucas Foglia (1983, United States) lives and works in San Francisco. He graduated with a MFA in Photography from Yale University and with a BA in Art Semiotics from Brown University. His photographs have been widely exhibited in the United States and in Europe, and are in the permanent collections of several museums. He published two monographs : “A Natural Order” and “Frontcountry”.
Eline Benjaminsen (NO), born in 1992 in Norway, lives and works in The Hague. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (Department of Photography) in 2017. Her project Where the money is made was awarded the Steenbergen Stipendium (2017) and was nominated for the Zilveren Camera category Prijs voor Storytelling (2018), along with many other nominations. The latest exhibitions of her work include Stroom (NL), FOTODOK (NL), Lianzhou Foto Festival (CN), Heden (NL) and Krakow Photomonth (PL).
Richard Gilligan (1981, Ireland) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He holds an Master in Fine Arts in Photography from University of Ulster, Belfast. His photographs have been widely exhibited with recent shows in Dublin, London, Munich, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Sydney and Copenhagen. 2013 : SHOWCASE Photography Award, recently selected by Time Magazine as one of the top 9 Photographers to watch from Ireland.
Małgorzata Stankiewicz (PL), born in 1986, is a graduate of UAL/University of the Arts London (2010) and ICP/International Center of Photography in New York (2014). Her work has been regularly exhibited internationally since 2013. She has been nominated for and awarded major prizes and several of her photography projects have been published.
Tymon Markowski was born in 1986 in Krakow (PL). He is a self-taught photographer. He graduated from the Higher School of Economics in Bydgoszcz with a degree in sociology. Photojournalist since 2006, he won the International Photography Award 2016 in the event category and ranked first in the Photojournalist of the Year 2016 competition in Poland.
Salvatore Vitale (IT), born in 1986, lives and works in Zurich. For several years, he has been interested in the development and complexity of modern societies. As a visual artist, editor and teacher, his work includes multiple forms of expression: from photography to video, to writing and exhibition design. He is an award-winning artist, lecturer in the Transmedia Storytelling programme at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and co-founder of the international magazine YET. His work is regularly exhibited in Switzerland and abroad, including Holland, Germany, Slovenia and Japan.

Emmanuel Tussore (FR) was born in 1984. Drawing on history and current events, his practice combines photography, video, sculpture, installation and performance. His work has been shown at the Havana Biennal, Berlin Film Festival, FIAC, Dak’Art Biennal, LagosPhoto, Athens Photo Festival. His photographic series Home was awarded “Jury’s Special Mention” of the Prix Levallois Young International Photographic Talents.
Lucy Ridgard (UK) lives and works in London. She is a portrait photographer interested in capturing people whose identities are interwoven with their sense of fashion and style that she frames against unexpected environments. Often referencing her own colourful childhood, her work is steeped in nostalgia.
Britta Rindelaub est née à Schaffhouse en 1973. Elle étudie la philosophie et l’ethnologie à Neuchâtel, complété par une formation en anthropologie de la culture à Barcelone. Elle entre ensuite à l’Ecole supérieure des Beaux-Arts à Genève. Depuis 2003, formation complémentaire au cinéma et à la mise en scène.

Japanese-Brazilian Shinji Nagabe (BR), born in 1975, lives and works in Madrid. He uses his multicultural heritage as the basis for his work, bringing identity and customs to it. His images seem full of fantasy while at the same time pervaded by reality, questioning the relationship of humans with society and the environment. In 2019, he was selected for the Prix Découverte at Les Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles.
Fabian Unternährer (1981, Bâle, CH) vit et travaille à Berne. Diplômé en photographie du Centre d’enseignement professionnel de Vevey en 2007 et de la Haute Ecole d’art de Zürich en 2012, il a participé à la FOAM, UNSEEN Photo Fair d’Amsterdam et a gagné le 3e prix Portrait des Swiss Press Award en 2013.
Myriam Ziehli (CH), born in 1989, studied photography at the CEPV in Vevey, as well as anthropology and art history at the Universities of Lausanne and Neuchâtel. Her project La Montagne Dorée has been shortlisted for the Mack First Book Award and the Aperture First Book Award. In 2014, together with Anne Golaz, she founded the distribution platform Aaluägä Books.
Christa de Carouge, de son vrai nom Christa Furrer, naît en 1936 à Bâle d’une mère couturière. Elle passe son enfance à Zurich, où elle se forme en tant que graphiste et commence à exercer son activité de styliste dès 1965, sans avoir suivi d’enseignement dans une école spécialisée. En 1978, elle choisit Genève pour présenter sa première collection, puis ouvre son premier magasin à Carouge. L’année 1984 constitue une étape décisive dans son parcours professionnel. Elle découvre le Japon et le bouddhisme, dont elle s’imprègne pour ses créations futures. En 1988, elle renoue avec ses racines, en inaugurant un magasin à Zurich.

Thomas Rousset (1984, Grenoble, France) vit et travaille à Lausanne. Il est titulaire d’un bachelor en communication visuelle et photographie (2009) de la Haute école d’art et de design de Lausanne (ECAL). Il est lauréat en 2010 du Prix des jeunes talents vfg et du BFF Promotion Prize et gagne le Reinhart-Wolf Award.
