Se chiudo gli occhi vedo la montagna
Aline d'Auria

Aline d’Auria’s work deals with the question of landscape as a site of memory and as a basis for the creation of new narratives. To better understand her own attraction to mountains, and her mother’s story and suffering, d’Auria delved into the archives of her mother’s family from 1800 to the present. Focusing on La Margna, a mountain that dominates the Engadine village where her grandmother grew up, d’Auria pondered the presence of mountain landscapes in our representations. In revisiting these family archives, she questions their supposed truths and the capacity of images to hide or reveal the power dynamics in gender relations. Her video installation, in which three women of three different generations perform a liberatory dance, aims to use poetry to free female figures from domination in the past, present and future.
