En quête de sens
Julien Heimann
In his travels, Julien Heimann captures urban scenes that reveal the impact of human activity on the contemporary world. His photo series En quête de sens focuses on five places that are still preserved but are now facing the consequences of mass consumption. With irony and compassion, his documentary images show us a procession of objects, traces and representations – temporary or long-lasting, sometimes without meaning, often toxic – which have been caused by human activity and are encroaching on natural areas.
Through his camera lens, Heimann takes a keen interest in the contrasts between modern consumer habits and the environments in which they unfold – in this case, places that testify to a past of ancestral traditions. He humorously looks at the inconsistencies of our contemporary consumer society and the disasters that these activities are producing on the planet.
