After photographing various private collections of contemporary art in Europe, Nicolas Delaroche turned to China, the world’s leading art market. First Seen explores thirty private art collections in China and Hong Kong, using the same approach to produce a dialogue between the artworks and their surroundings. In this series, Delaroche uses a new compositional aesthetic that responds to the Chinese context, as well as an engagement inspired by the art collections that he visited.
