Mundus
Marion Tampon-Lajarriette
The photographs in the series Munduswere taken in various caves in Italy and Switzerland during a year of residency at the Swiss Institute in Rome. Each image is a photographic diptych which shows cave mouths that look like eye cavities, or shining retinal surfaces. Marion Tampon-Lajarriette sees physical and symbolic places as breaches that open to the world, but also as abysses that can plunge viewers into their internal mental cave. With this series, Tampon-Lajarriette offers us an experience of the boundaries between the internal and the external, the visible and the invisible, the real and the virtual.
