Cursor, Caressor, Eraser
Andres Wanner, Melanie Cassidy, Michael Filimowicz
The interactive installation Cursor, Caressor, Eraser explores the erotic potential of a touch-sensitive interface. A surface translates the user’s stroking motions into projected images that have the appearance of photographs of the surface of a body. Layer by layer, these images are gradually superimposed, and then erased. Through this sequence, the tension between touch and physical contact is used to address themes of forgetting and remembering, of recognition and being a stranger. A simple gesture produces a sequence of rich variations.
