International Rocket Week
Robert Ormerod

Once upon a time, science and exploration were the stuff of the obsessive amateur, thinkering in his private laboratory. Amateur rocketeers are ordinary, everyday people, with a thirst for adventure and exploration who are quietly continuing this tradition.

International Rocket Week is an event which takes place near Glasgow Scotland and attracts rocket enthusiasts from the UK, Europe and the US. Participants spend the week camping outside an old scout hut whilst building their own rockets and then launching on a nearby moor. Rockets cost between five pounds and three thousand pounds. They are built to be retrieved and re-used but things do not always work out this way- many rockets being launched and never seen again.

Year of production: 2014
