Natural Whisper
Wu Yumo & Zhang Zeyangping

The Chinese artists Wu Yumo and Zhang Zeyangping worked for three months in Monthey, Wallis, as part of the SMArt residency programme. During their stay, they have tested the links and tensions between the individual and nature. Their work consists of various interventions, created directly in nature or with objects that they brought back to the studio from their long walks. Their installation is made up of a series of photographs of landscapes, images created with sensitized paper placed in nature and exposed to the elements for several days, but also sound and audiovisual pieces. The artists explore how landscape is represented through different approaches and techniques, in order to create a poetic dialogue with the natural elements. The works resulting from this exploration evoke the impermanence of things and the fragility of nature, but also its responsiveness and strength.

Thanks to a collaboration with SMArt Programm, artists Wu Yumo & Zhang Zeyangping will have an exhibition at the Galerie du Théâtre du Crochetan (7.05-15.07.2022).
