No Blackout
Marc Renaud
For his photographic report No Blackout, Marc Renaud took on the challenge of making images of something invisible: electricity. Renaud brings the flow of electricity back to its sources: water, wind, the sun and fossil fuels. In the course of the images, the matter of electricity is revealed in the architecture of concrete structures, in monumental construction projects in the mountains, as drawn from the wind by huge windmills, or made into light in the white rooms of micro-engineering labs. Following the electrical wire back also gives an image to the fragility of our resources and opens the door to a questioning of our energy consumption.
