We are all going home
Aline d'Auria
We are all going home is an immersive installation which is the result of a commission that Aline d’Auria received from the city of Chiasso, a frontier town in the canton of Ticino, in order to take a new look at its residents who have immigrated from Eastern Europe. The first part of this work presents a series of photographs of the people who participated in the project. The second part is a video installation showing people in perpetual movement, at different moments and in different directions, in images at odds with some representations of migration. The third part allows viewers to stretch out in a dark room with a dream-like atmosphere and immerse themselves in the sound of lullabies from Eastern Europe. By bringing together various elements, the installation We are all going home raises questions about the feeling of belonging, both physical and spiritual, and opens new perspectives on the representation of “home”.
