New Dutch Views
Marwan Bassiouni

To create his photo series New Dutch Views, Marwan Bassiouni visited more than 70 mosques in the Netherlands between January 2018 and February 2019. His frontal, vertical pictures taken inside these mosques act as windows onto the outside world, creating a kind of dialogue between the two spaces. Rigorously constructed, his images evoke both the oppositions and the connections between different representations – religious and cultural, Eastern and Western.
