The documentary series Dans les plis de la ville is the result of a search for traces in the urban fabric of the outskirts of Paris, which Emmanuelle Bayart systematically walked by foot. Made up of views of the city in which the body occupies space in such a way that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish inside and outside, or the nature of the place, Bayart shows us the “uninhabitable”. Meticulously composed and oscillating between distress and enchantment, her photographs interrogate our democratic values and community life in present-day societies.
