Fractured linearities of time
Ola Lanko

By looking at time through unusual perspective Ola Lanko’s installation invites to explore the manufactured nature of time. She explores hidden and unfamiliar technical process behind the timekeeping by giving the machinery, that is used to make watches, a different role. Lanko takes the craft of watchmaking as the embodiment of the material and immaterial combined.

By using images from an Industrial heritage archive – a time capsule of history in itself – Lanko investigates time as physical, mental, socio-economical and historical phenomena, by bringing together different perspectives in one spacial three dimensional collage.
The exhibition is organised in the framework of Archive Salvation Force, an initiative started by the artist with a goal to revitalise existing archives and explore their potential use in contemporary context.

In Cooperation with the CEJARE (Centre jurassien d’archives et de recherches économiques), based in St-Imier.
