Emma, Anne, Anne-Marie and Bernadette were diagnosed by a team led by Professor Belpomme in Paris with electromagnetic hypersensitivity. This means that they cannot tolerate having either electricity or high-frequency electromagnetic radiation such as cellular and Wi-Fi signals in their homes.

For years, they have looked for “white zones”, that is, radio-free areas without electromagnetic fields. In the department of Drôme in France, they have found such a zone where they can sleep undisturbed. The symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity have been recognized by the WTO; France has paid disability pensions since 2013, but it does not recognize the illness. According to a Swedish study, an estimated three percent of the population has electromagnetic hypersensitivity.
