My project “Salar” is about a gigantic salt flat in the Bolivian Andes which contains the world’s largest amount of lithium. This precious metal has not been extracted yet, but could bring economic prosperity to the area as a state run company is about to extract lithium and other deposits soon. Nevertheless, critics warn that a growing chemical industry will cause environmental problems and heavily affect this unique and surreal landscape that attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year.
