Lectures
Olivier Suter
Nowadays, the practice of reading is in competition with various digital, social and cultural platforms, whose goal is to monopolize our attention. Reading has become more and more dematerialized and fragmented in both time and space. In his series of photographs entitled Lectures, Olivier Suter shows children absorbed in books that have marked human history, works that even when they first came out were interrogating our connection with the world and with others. Through his images Suter considers the influence that writers, thinkers and philosophers might have today on our society. Thanks to a collaboration with the Public Library, the photographic portraits are accompanied by audio content offering excerpts and a brief context of the books appearing in the images.
