Elements
Sarah Carp
The phonographic project Elements is the second stage of a project conceived by photographer Sarah Carp and musician Priscille Oehninger. Together they have conceived a presentation that takes as its basis the four elements that were first defined by the Greek philosophers and were employed from antiquity onward to describe the matter that makes up the universe: earth, water, air and fire. According to this theory, all the matter in the universe is made up of these four elements.
The project first presents an identification and treatment of each element. Sonic textures enter into dialogue with the abstract visual compositions in motion. The elements are then juxtaposed and intermingled, to be expressed simultaneously in a visual and auditory whirl, resulting in a fifth element, evoking the torment our planet is now in.
