Wolfgang Ernst Pauli, one of the founders of quantum physics, was also called the “conscience of physics.” There was a legend that experiments failed when Pauli entered a room, a phenomenon that his colleagues jokingly called the “Pauli effect.” Pauli’s presence lingers on in the CERN archives. Thus begins this “history of a scientific ghost.”
Art, photography, history, and science come into collision, blurring the boundary between scientific fact and science fiction. Some images have been manipulated by the artist, while others have been left intact.
